How do you determine the best gas range cookers? Well, that is a great starting point when you embark on your research to find the best gas range for you.
Firstly, what you determine as value is very different from how someone else will. Some of you will absolutely love cooking and already have in mind what features you need your gas range oven to offer. But for others, it may be more about how it looks and fits into your kitchen and cooking for you is more reheating than cooking from scratch.
When considering your criteria, the key points you will want to consider are space, the size of your family, how frequently you entertain and possibly how long you intend to stay in your current home. If you plan to live in your home for years to come you may look towards the upper end of the price gas range cooker spectrum, however, price shouldn’t be your be-all and end-all decision on which brand of gas cooker you decide upon.
Our team has sourced dozens of gas range ovens narrowing them down to 10 for inclusion in our ‘best gas range cookers’ review. In this list you will find a variety of range cookers for various budgets, to help you find the one which best suits your kitchen and your lifestyle too.

Staying true to the traditional range cooker, this Rangemaster has everything that you would expect with two ovens, a grill and five burners. It is as the name suggests – a classic style, typical of the old Aga traditional design.
It comes in cream with a black trim and has bevelled doors offering a slice of retro. More importantly it can easily fit into a small kitchen, but still gives almost 150L of capacity in all, so really is the Tardis of cooking.

It wouldn’t be a top 10 cooker range without the inclusion of a Smeg, and while this model doesn’t give users the traditional range setup and design, it will definitely be a better fit for some people.
It has 115 litres of capacity altogether, providing you with room for even the largest of items. It comes with 11 cooking functions that offer pre-sets for specific food, as well as a rotisserie for any chicken lovers out there.
Made entirely from one piece of top quality 18/10 steel, it follows the design of other Opera products with a streamlined hob but chunky oven and feet accents. A Vapour Clean setting and enamel interior keeps it looking and feeling like new on the inside, so any burnt on bits are quickly removed.
Eclipse glass is a great addition in our minds. When the oven is cool and off, the glass appears black, yet transparent when it is on. This allows you to safely see whether there is any residual heat, or if you have accidentally left it on/turned it on. As well, there’s triple glazed doors, and the fan cooling system keeps them cool to touch at all times.

With two ovens, you can make two separate dishes at the same time without having to cook one beforehand and keep one warm.
The main oven is nice and spacious, with a large 67 litres capacity. And while the second is technically the backup section, there is still 47 litres inside which makes it larger than a lot of other single ovens out there.
The hob contains five burners, including a larger zone in the centre for woks or big frying pans which can accommodate all of your fry-up ingredients at once. Both chambers have catalytic liners, so they’ll just require a wipe down every so often, and the doors drop down so you won’t have to worry about what is at either side.
Other bonuses include telescopic legs, a timer and cast iron pan supports. It is a great unit for the price, and would be way at the top of the list if it had an extra small chamber.

If you’re lucky you will find a range cooker for around £600-£700, but generally, they are in the region of £1500-£2000. We have put our resources into finding cookers that reflect their price tag and offer great value, so those at the lower end of the price scale are worthy of their place, and those at the higher end offer enough to justify the extra spend.
Depending on what it is you are looking for, the price will change. More than five burners or extra pre-set functions will cost more. You should however bear in mind that these cookers have been made to last and many of them are used to prepare delicious meals for decades.
I had the idea for Which Kitchen Appliance? In 2016 when a friend was planning a new kitchen and asked me to help her choose her new kitchen appliances. She knew that I had trained as a chef, had a passion for cooking and an interest in interior design.
After hours and hours of trawling websites looking for a double oven, built-in microwave, hob & extractor fan the excitement that was soon waned…we were bored and frazzled. But finally, we succeeded and she got her new kitchen.
This led me to think that there must be a better way of researching kitchen appliances, if only there were somewhere that you could go and find kitchen appliance reviews and helpful hints and tips on getting the best from and look after your appliance under one roof with information that was comprehensive, easy to understand and that you could trust…and so WhichKitchenAppliance? was born. I now work full-time on WhichKitchenAppliance?
